Goodman has commenced development on a 22,000 m 2 large property for Hellmann Worldwide Logistics at Star Park in Halle, Germany, scheduled for completion in September 2016. Hellmann will use the new facility for a multi-channel retailer of DIY goods.
Hellman chose Goodman to develop the new state-of-the-art 22,000 sqm distribution centre in Star Park, with Goodman also managing the facility for its customer after completion. Hellmann’s new logistics centre will create up to 100 new jobs for the region.
“By partnering with Goodman, we gain access to an excellent location to offer efficient, country-wide logistics to our customers. The property is tailored to our requirements for the handling of the product range, thus creating the perfect setting for our competencies to fully develop as a logistics service provider,” says Stefan Porcher, Product Manager Contract Logistics at Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.
LED lighting throughout the warehouse
The new warehouse facility has a ceiling height of 10.50 m and consists of 21,000 m 2 of storage space, a canopy of around 270 sqm as well as offices and social areas on 430 sqm. In total, 22 loading bays will be available to receive incoming DIY products and dispatch orders as quickly as possible to end customers or over-the-counter trade. The facility will also be comprehensively fitted with LED lighting and on the basis of the latest assessment criteria, will receive a gold certificate from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) on completion.
“Logistics service providers are among our most important customers in Germany. The development for Hellmann incorporates our experience in DIY store logistics and multichannel trade,” says Jordan Corynen, Goodman Regional Director for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. “At Star Park, we only recently handed over a new logistics centre to eBay Enterprise and we are now beginning our first development for Hellmann. We are delighted to be developing a quality warehouse solution for another well-known logistics service provider.”
In its German portfolio, Goodman currently manages around 150,000 sqm used for DIY store logistics. For online and multichannel trade, the figure is already over one million sqm.
